Just as we were getting ready to leave a listening session for Young Buck's new CD at G-Unit headquarters yesterday, in walked none other than 50 Cent. Artists as big as Fifty rarely show up at listening sessions--especially if it's not for their record--so we were a little surprised. But there he was, strolling in with a huge grin right as his Cam'ron dis track, "Funeral Music" (a bonus cut on Buck's album), was blasting. Along with talking-up Buck's LP, he told us to expect his next solo album--featuring Timbaland, Justin Timberlake and others--in June. He also gave away his plans to release his next next album around the fifth anniversary of his 12-million selling major debut, Get Rich or Die Tryin', in Feburary 2008. And that CD could be his last album of original material for Interscope; since his five-album deal with the label includes a greatest hits disc, Fifty could be the most valuable free agent in music as early as this time next year. "We'll see if they give me $100 million dollars," said the rapper with a laugh, addressing the impending negotiations. We're not sure if he was kidding.

Having been recognized as Best New Artist at the 2005 Grammy Awards, Maroon 5 will release their much-anticipated sophomore album, "It Won't Be Soon Before Long," on May 22. The follow-up to the multi-platinum, Grammy award-winning Songs About Jane will be "sexier and stronger," according to frontman Adam Levine, who looked to 80s icons such as Prince, Michael Jackson and Talking Heads for inspiration.

Recorded at home in Los Angeles with producers Mike Elizondo, Mark "Spike" Stent, Mark Endert, and Eric Valentine the album promises to be a louder take on the pop sounds of their first effort. "It's definitely aggressive, upbeat and pounding," says Levine.

From the first single, "Makes Me Wonder," it is clear that Maroon 5 has once again captured all of the elements that create a universally appealing pop rock song. The song segues from a bass heavy intro to an infectiously catchy melody that soon belies the sentiment, "Give me something to believe in because I don't believe in you anymore." Maroon 5 is Adam Levine (vocals, guitar), James Valentine (guitar), Jesse Carmichael (keyboard), Mickey Madden (bass) and Matt Flynn (drums). Their debut album Songs about Jane earned the 2005 Grammy Award for Best New Artist, has been certified quadruple platinum in the U.S. and has reached gold or platinum status in over 35 countries. The album has sold over ten million units worldwide. In 2006 the group earned another Grammy for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal for a live recording of their international hit single "This Love." - Singer Kelis was arrested last night for verbally assaulting undercover cops dressed at prostitutes.
- Destiny's Child member Kelly Rowland will be releasing her sophmoore effort "Ms. Kelly" on June 26th with the first single "Like This" (Featuring Eve).
- Kelly Clarkson will also be releasing a album later this year entitled "My December" (as confirmed by herself on her official site). The first single is rumored to be "One Minute"
- Mim's topped the Hot 100 this week with his song "This Is While Im Hot", knocking Justin Timberlake off the top spot.
- Norah Jones is still conquering the charts with her third album "Not Too Late", the album has been #1 three times since its release and has sold 952,843 in less than a month.
